After CPI(M) protesting against SEZs, NCP has joined hands saying no fertile land shall be used for SEZ. Only Barron lands can be used. Sitaram Yechuri said that "Farmers should be paid 52% more than the current market price of the land and land should not be acquired without taking the farmers into confidence."Former PM, V P Singh has sought a regulatory authority on SEZs, just like the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. This is fantastic demand as it will bring transparency in the deals.
